Situated between the Sierra Escalona (San Miguel de Salinas), the estuary of the Segura River (Guardamar del Segura) and the agricultural lands of the Vega Baja.
Torrevieja has a micro-climate which marks it out from other neighbouring towns. The proximity of two salt lakes work in favour of good climatic conditions with regard to both torrential rainfall and strong winds.
The climate is temperate continental, with temperate winters and mild summers with temperatures which range between 18 and 25 degrees for most of the year.
